Dakotah Poitra joins Chi Alpha Sigma staff

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The National College Athlete Honor Society announced the addition of Dakotah Poitra as the Chi Alpha Sigma staff intern for the 2020-21 academic year today.

Poitra - who was inducted into the Wisconsin Epsilon chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma as a student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2019 - joins Executive Director Kellen Wells-Mangold and Assistant Director BJ Pickard on the organization’s staff. She will assist with membership outreach and marketing efforts for Chi Alpha Sigma.

"We are very excited to have Dakotah join our team," Chi Alpha Sigma Executive Director Kellen Wells-Mangold said. "She brings great experience and perspective as a recent student-athlete and Chi Alpha Sigma inductee, and I know her skills and abilities will be a great asset to our organization and chapters as well."

Poitra played four seasons on the UW-River Falls women's volleyball team from 2016-19 and earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholastic Honor Roll distinction all four years of her collegiate career. She is currently serving as a graduate assistant in the athletics department at North Central College. Last winter, she was selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Immersion Program, an initiative created in 2015 to help build a pipeline of talented ethnic minority candidates with an interest in Division III coaching and/or administration, in an effort to ultimately diversify the division. Poitra also assists the non-profit Her Next Play, whose mission is to develop the next generation of women leaders through sports.

The National College Athlete Honor Society, Inc., known as Chi Alpha Sigma, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1996. Chi Alpha Sigma works with state chapters to recognize college student-athletes who succeed in their sport and in the classroom.
